Preventing Blisters Before They Start

· 1 min read · June 18, 2026

Blisters are not bad luck. They are friction plus moisture plus time, and every one of those is preventable if you act before the heat starts.

The warning sign is a hot spot, a warm tender area that appears before the blister forms. Treat it immediately and you stop the damage before it peels your skin.

  • Stop at the first hot spot and apply a blister tape or pad.
  • Keep feet dry with moisture wicking socks.
  • Make sure shoes fit without slipping at the heel.
  • Pre tape known trouble spots before the walk begins.

I carry blister tape and apply it the moment I feel heat, not after. Waiting costs a day of limping, and a prevented blister is worth more than a treated one.
